Standard Reports is a key product within WBG Data Analytics, designed to assist staff in locating dashboards essential for management evaluations and informed decision-making.

Goal

“To streamline processes, reduce complexity, simplify and unify the multi-domain experience into one platform, enhance performance time, and provide accessible information and metrics.”

The Challange

How might we improve the experience to monitor key operations, perform simple data analysis, and/or make data-driven decisions?

Simplify navigation and user experience across the application

Create a single source for cross-domain disconnects using AG Grid for reports

Create consistency while Improving the Design Inconsistency

Improve the filtering data experience by corporate, regional, country, global practice, and practice manager

Usability Testing

I collaborated with the Research Team to conduct an evaluative study, which provided high-level recommendations to inform the design of the new Standard Reports before the system’s development.

The purpose of this evaluative study is to gain high-level recommendations to improve the overall user experience of the new Standard Reports before the system is developed. To validate the new version of Standard Reports on improved navigation, especially to and from modules, and enhanced information architecture.

Individual participants were asked to complete tasks in order to test the system’s navigation, copy, and overall functionality.

The contextual inquiry and workshops helped gather many data points and insights. But bringing order to the chaos was crucial before proceeding further. Based on the collected information, I segregated it into three different categories (routes). In close collaboration with the product owner and the technology team, I identified the level of effort required, which helped me design the product roadmap.

Red - High Priority | Yellow - Medium Priority | Green - Low Priority

Design Approach

First, we adopted a minimalistic design approach. This allows users to see the most valuable information right away and choose their next actions based on their needs. I focused on ease of use. An intuitive design and clear information architecture help users navigate dashboards and find reports quickly.

We aim for seamless features. By applying consistent visual language and interaction patterns, we create a familiar and predictable experience for users.

Widget based Visualizations

I applied the principles of modularity and reusability to create data-driven charts and graphs for Standard Reports by establishing a library of reusable visual components that can be combined and customized to create various data visualizations.

Mobile

I designed the component with maximum scalability and adoption in mind, ensuring compatibility with other applications. It has been incorporated into the design system as an ‘Adaptive Card.’

Iterative Process

Testing the designs with the users helped me get insights and real-time feedback, which helped to improve the design as well as the architecture of the product.

I think it is better because it is more intuitive, and for me, that’s more user-friendly. I think that navigating is a little easier because there are some additional shortcuts that I don’t think are in the current standard reports.
This one seems fairly intuitive, so I think this one seems good to be able to have that, and it kind of matches what we have on our browsers.
It’s very similar to what we see right now with the new Operations Workspace. So it’s very similar to boxes with an icon. It looks kinda clean....... So this one looks cleaner and nicer from a design point of view.
